ABOUT
Linked2Friends.com really came about as an afterthought. Here
we were facing our 20th high school reunion and it
became obvious that the lines of communication with
our graduating class had become fractured through 20
years of LIFE!!
There was
"the site" that caters to classmates and
organizations but while they had lots of people
enrolled in their "free" program, very few
of our classmates were
willing to pay the $40 per year which would allow
people to communicate with each other and get on the
message boards to catch-up and plan. The
barrier of entry was too steep! We were stuck
in a quandry.
It
seems obvious that the only way to get dozens,
hundreds or even thousands of people to be able to
freely communicate was to offer the service for
FREE. This way, there was no barrier of entry, people
can then communicate as often or seldom as they like
but the LINK to the group of friends is always
intact and accessible to all that need it. But
we wanted to throw in some nice tools to make it
better than just your average message board forum so
there are tools that have been created here to make
communications that much better.
So
this is my little experiment with my own graduating
class and anyone else who wants to give it a whirl
to see how well this works. I own the webserver so the cost is minimal and wouldn't it be
great to be able to communicate with friends and get
updates regularly?
The
site is not overly hi-tech YET because this is being done in my
spare time. But it doesn't have to be snazzy
to be effective...check out
www.craigslist.org if you don't believe me.
It's far from pretty but it sure is popular!
